Mikkeller It’s Alright!

More like it's OK.

Pouring thin and golden, smelling of hops and brett funk, there is no fruit and very little malt in the nose.

The body is thin and crisp, but the surprize is a pronounced bitter character that follows clear through to the finish.

The middle is very horseblanket funky, but not even a hint of acidity. There is a smoky vegetable thing going on that is interresting at best.

I get a touch of pepper that is extenuated by the bitterness.

The finish of this beer is all bitterness. There isn't much else to say about it. It's not a good beer for a novice to the world of sours, but I doubt that is who Mikkeller is marketing toward.

I am not sure I'll be getting my glasses all polished up for a shopping trip to find another one of these, but I certainly would have drank another if I had it cold.

On the Kahuna Scale of 1-10, I'd give this thing a pretty shaky "Try it if you see it" But i make no warrant as to your level of enjoyment. You might dig it, you might dig a hole to pour it in. I'm just not really stricken by this brew. I did enjoy it, but I'm not doing cartwheels!
