Crab Daddy's

There we were, sitting at the beautiful Sirata Beach Resort... Watching it rain on our vacation! But not to worry, we had a car and a guide book, and it was time to eat!

Florida vacations mean lots of different things to different people, but I’m going to be perfectly honest; we go to eat.

Our vacations typically consist of copious amounts of seafood interrupted by periods of relaxation. We love to get the fresh seafood that you simply cannot get in Colorado. Sure, we have some good seafood restaurants, but it’s just not the same as having fish next to the water.

We read about a new restaurant / pub called Crab Daddy’s in one of the brochures of where to eat in St. Pete’s and decided to give it a go.

Located at 678 75th Avenue, Blind Pass Inlet, Saint Pete Beach it was less than a 5 minute drive even with the rain.

A return to paradise!

I am usually a big fan of sites like trip adviser and yelp. Social media has done well for me over the years, and I usually trust it. That said, sometimes you have to dig a little deeper to see what is actually being said.

We returned to the Sirata Beach Resort on St. Pete’s Beach Florida last week for the third time, and I already have $150 stashed for our return next year. I guess that’s all the deeper you need to dig here, but you also know I don’t float any BS here. I just tell it like it is and let you make the decision. But some of the reviews on major travel sites will lead you to believe that the Sirata is outdated and dingy... Simply NOT the case!

The Sirata offers 382 hotel rooms right on the beach including 170 one-bedroom suites (We have never seen the suites).

We have always forked out the extra cash for beach front rooms, but nearly every room in the place has a view of the water, so if you are traveling on a budget there are no worries.

The last time we were at the Sirata was in June of 2012, I wrote about it HERE. They have done some updating since then. There is still a beautiful beach, three pools, one hot tub, three restaurants and they were considerate enough to leave the ocean right where we left it. The updated rooms are beautiful at very least. The color palate matches perfectly with the blues and greens of the gulf that you see just off of the balcony. The beds are comfortable and the AC works well. The footprint of the Rum Runner Bar and Grill has expanded and a pavilion accommodates wedding parties and reunions like a champ!

Means to an end

It's no secret that I hate blogging from the iPad, but since I was stuck on a flight from Charlotte and Tampa, I have no choice.

First, I want to publicly thank US Airways for their world class gate agents. And it's a good thing they have such great gate agents, because the idiot that checked us in in Denver last night made it nearly impossible to get our seats even remotely close together! Kinda important when traveling with children!

Even with this flight having 10 empty seats, they have the second largest guy on the plane sitting next to me, I am the largest! Lol! Good thing weight and balance is pretty forgiving on an A320!

Then there is the deaf mute with African sleeping sickness that has the window seat. I put my ear phones in, I can her her music pounding over my Jimmy Buffett, so I assume she is deaf...or soon will be!

When she walked up to the row, where most people would say something like, "excuse me, that one is my seat," she waved her hands franticly, grunted and mumbled as she stumbled in her fashion wedge sandals and fell into her seat, pulling the window shades down as she sat, buckled up and immediately went to sleep. So I assume she has African sleeping sickness.

Fortunately, I get to fly a few times per year, , so it's not the end of the world, but still, I paid for this seat, you're just passed out, open the damn window!

So well, what can I say, I love flying...as long as I get to be PIC or at least get to sit with my wife, but is the means to an end!

Well, we are gonna be landing in about 15 min, and then we'll be looking for some beach action to bring to you!

To heck with my old schedule of posting, I'll post when I have more funny news, brews or beaches to share.....

~Cheers
